Ground Transportation

Inexpensive transportation is provided by the Citizens Area Transit bus system throughout the valley. Three routes service the Strip, one of which provides service 24 hours a day. A bus stop can be found on nearly every block, and the buses run as far as Vacation Village, Belz Factory Outlet World and the Factory Stores of America. The fare is $2 each way, senior citizens and children 6-17 are eligible for reduced fairs with a CAT reduced fare photo I.D. (or an I.D. from another transit system). Taxis

Several taxicab companies service the Las Vegas Valley. Fares begin at $2.20, and are $1.50 for every mile thereafter. There is a $1.20 airport surcharge. A selection of taxi companies are listed below:

Limousines

A variety of limousines are available for hourly rental around town. The average price for a town car is $25, a basic limo runs about $33-$45, and a super stretch averages about $60-$80 per hour.
Many of the limousine companies also provide shuttle service from McCarran International Airport. Fares average around $3.50 to the Strip hotels and around $4.75 to the downtown area.

Shuttle Services

Many of the hotels on the Strip and surrounding areas provide a free shuttle service from the airport to their location. Some of these run on a regular schedule, while others may need to be requested from the hotel. Check with the hotel when making reservations about possible shuttle service.

Tour Companies

Black Canyon Raft Tours offers a 12-mile raft tour through scenic Black Canyon. The trip lasts approximately three hours and travels down the Colorado River from Hoover Dam to Willow Beach. Tours depart daily at 9:30 a.m. from Feb. 1 through Nov. 30 (702-293-3776).

Cactus Jack's Wild West Tour Company offers bus tours to the Grand Canyon, as well as air tours. A Lake Mead cruise, a tour of Hoover Dam and a free Laughlin tour are also offered (702-731-2425).

Grand Canyon Sightseeing offers eight different tours to the Grand Canyon. Tours of Hoover Dam, Lake Mead and Laughlin are also available (702-471-7155).

Gray Line Tours offers air and bus tours to Hoover Dam, Laughlin, Lake Mead, the Grand Canyon and Red Rock (702-384-1234).

Jackpot Tour Service offers a horseback riding trip through the desert valley of Blue Diamond. Tour packages to Lake Mead, Hoover Dam and Laughlin are also offered (702-733-6060).

Lake Mead Cruises offers a ride on the Desert Princess, an authentic Mississippi paddle wheel on Lake Mead. Sightseeing, breakfast and dinner cruises depart from the Lake Mead Marina (702-293-6180).

Rocky Trails Inc. takes small groups on two-to four day jaunts with a geologists, botanist or nature photographer to four nearby national parks (869-9991).

Scenic Airlines has daily departures to Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon and Monument Valley (638-3300).

Showtime Tours of Las Vegas offers airplane, helicopter and bus tours to the Grand Canyon. Tours to Hoover Dam, Laughlin and Lake Mead are also available (702-895-8822).

Sightseeing Tours Unlimited features various Grand Canyon tours and tours to Hoover Dam and Laughlin (702-471-7155).
